Modern Fireplace Designs Reimagined with The Wilderness Collection

Many people gravitate to wood-burning fireplaces because of the ambiance they provide and shy away from gas fireplaces because the flames just don’t look realistic enough to provide the same effect. Fortunately, innovations in burner technology have come a long way, and now with Ortal’s innovative Wilderness Collection, you can get the convenience of a modern gas fireplace with natural, realistic looking flames and logs. Manufacturers have struggled for years to achieve a look that is comparable to traditional wood-burning units, and our R&D team has done it. In fact, customers who have seen this collection in showrooms have been so impressed that although they intended to buy a wood-burning fireplace, they changed their minds when they saw what was possible with our new burner technology.

If your clients are exploring modern fireplace designs and tend toward a more natural aesthetic, or even if they are thinking of installing a wood-burning fireplace, the new, industry-changing Wilderness Collection from Ortal could be the perfect solution.

Cutting-Edge Burner Technology

The Wilderness Collection uses patent-pending burner technology that allows the flame to appear to be coming from the wood, just like a natural fire. Glowing embers add to the effect to create a lifelike fireside experience. Whether they select the logs with a natural-looking char or opt for a smooth driftwood style, it’s easy to get lost gazing into the fire, just like with a traditional wood-burning fireplace.

Two Burner Types

To match the surrounding aesthetic, clients can choose a fireplace that has either the dark brown burner or a fireplace with the driftwood burner. The dark brown style has larger logs with bark and non-uniform organic shapes that contribute to the dynamic effect. The driftwood style has smaller logs with a smoother surface and some natural char spots, perfect for a beach-themed home or summer house.

With both burner styles, the logs are stacked like a real campfire. Flames emerge from below and from the logs themselves, for a realistic effect with all of the benefits of a gas fireplace. It’s important to note that each burner type stands alone, and the two log types cannot be intermixed in the same unit.

Four Fireplace Styles

The Wilderness Collection is available in four different styles, and all of them can accomodate a large variety of surrounding materials including stone, marble, tile, and so on.

Traditional style

This style looks most like a typical wood-burning fireplace with the hearth at floor level. To keep the classic look, specify a red or tan brick interior, or for a more modern aesthetic, opt for the glossy black panels. Complete the picture with an elegant mantle.

Front-facing style

For a more modern version of a typical fireplace, choose our front-facing unit, which can be embedded into any wall. The front of the fireplace is flush with the wall, creating a sleek look with no mantel or other elements protruding.

Three-sided style

For a more versatile view, choose the three-sided unit, which has glass on the front and both sides for optimal viewing angles. Whether occupants are sitting directly in front of the fireplace or on a cozy couch to the side, they can enjoy the realistic flame.

Corner style

For a truly modern look, choose a corner fireplace that is open on two sides. The asymmetrical aesthetic draws the eye, making this modern fireplace design the centerpiece of any room.
