Contemporary Interior Design Style

When we review interior design styles and how they came about, it is not uncommon to find one style influenced another. For instance, the modern style of the early to mid-20th century paved the way for the contemporary style, which is sometimes also called “modern contemporary.”

This design style came about as a response to plain-looking and basic building and room designs typical with the modern style. The modern approach was to focus on the function of the end product rather than worry much about its form or appearance. Applying the contemporary style was how designers could take plain, boring modern designs and transform them to incorporate various design elements to create a balance between the end product’s appearance and function.

The “modern contemporary” style also takes an eco-friendly approach whenever possible. Designers often look for green solutions when creating their room designs like using recycled hardwood flooring, energy-efficient windows, and so on.

To learn more about the contemporary style, its specific design features and elements, color palettes, and how to create your own contemporary room design, we invite you to continue reviewing the following infographic.
